As I’m approaching graduation, I’ve realized there is so much I’ve neglected and ignored as a college student–I was so caught up in studying, classes, the same old party scene that I forgot to appreciate everything else around me.
Sometimes you have to be a tourist in your own city. And this means especially you, college students.
For instance, I’ve been eyeing this cafe, Babette, located snugly in the corner in the Berkeley Art Museum and it took me months to visit. I finally sat down with my friend Aspen for a cup of coffee last Friday.
Babette mimics the feel of the museum-modern and industrial yet tasteful– making it very inviting place to chill and hang out. I think it has to be my favorite coffee spot on south side and it shames me to say it took me so long to find it!
After our coffee date, Aspen and I strolled through the Berkeley Art Museum and that too, for the first time. For a few seconds I forgot I was in the grey concrete building I pass by everyday on the way to class. A few minutes away from your normal routine can really change your perspective on your lifestyle in your little town.
So take a break and step back, and find your moment of zen.
